Why Fast Action Matters

A dripping faucet wastes 3,000+ gallons per year. A running toilet can waste 200 gallons per day. These add up fast on NYC water bills.

What We Install & Repair

Fixtures We Install
& Repair.

Bathroom and kitchen plumbing at NP Co.™ covers the fixtures themselves — not the pipes behind the wall, and not a clogged drain. Here's what that means in practice.

Faucets

Replacement and repair for kitchen and bathroom faucets, including customer-supplied fixtures. A dripping faucet is usually a worn washer or cartridge, not a bigger problem.

Toilets

Repair for running or leaking toilets, plus full toilet replacement. Most running-toilet calls are a flapper or fill valve issue — a straightforward fix.

Garbage Disposals

Installation and repair of kitchen garbage disposals, including jammed, leaking, or dead units.

Dishwashers

Water supply and drain hookup for new dishwashers, plus reconnection when a kitchen is renovated.

Tub & Shower Valves

Replacement of worn or leaking tub and shower valves, including matching to existing trim where possible.

Sinks

Kitchen and bathroom sink replacement, including undermount and drop-in installations.

A few things fall outside this page on purpose. A fixture that's actively leaking behind a wall or under a floor is a job for leak detection. A slow or blocked drain — even in a kitchen or bathroom — is drain cleaning. Pipe work behind the wall, separate from the fixture itself, is pipe repair. Installing a new or replacement sink specifically has its own dedicated page: see sink installation.

Renovation Plumbing

Bathroom Renovation
Plumbing.

Full bathroom renovations need two plumbing phases: rough-in, where supply and drain lines are placed before walls and flooring go in, and finish work, where fixtures are installed once the space is ready. We handle both.

We work alongside your general contractor or can refer you to trusted NYC GCs if you don't already have one. Renovation plumbing is scheduled around the rest of your project timeline rather than treated as a one-off call.

NYC-Specific Considerations

Working in NYC
Apartments & Co-ops.

Bathroom and kitchen plumbing in NYC comes with constraints a house in the suburbs doesn't have. Many buildings run on shared risers, so a fixture replacement sometimes means coordinating a water shutoff with neighbors or the super, not just the unit itself. Older pre-war buildings often have galvanized supply lines or non-standard rough-in dimensions, which can affect what fixtures fit without additional adapter work.

Co-op and condo boards frequently require plumbing work — especially anything touching risers or main lines — to be reviewed or permitted before work starts, and some require proof of insurance from the contractor. We can provide documentation your board typically asks for; check with your building's specific requirements before scheduling larger jobs. For general plumbing services beyond bathroom and kitchen fixtures, see our full services list.

Choosing Fixtures

Choosing the Right
Fixtures.

If you're buying your own fixtures rather than choosing from what we stock, a few things affect how smoothly installation goes. Faucet and drain hole spacing needs to match your existing sink or countertop — a fixture that looks right in a showroom can be the wrong configuration for your setup. For toilets, rough-in distance (the space from the wall to the drain center, usually 12 inches but not always in older buildings) determines what will physically fit.

Finish matters too — mixing finishes (chrome faucet, brushed nickel drain) is a common and avoidable mismatch. If you're not sure a fixture you're considering will work with your existing plumbing, call before you buy. Confirming compatibility upfront is faster than returning a fixture that doesn't fit after we've already opened the box.

Cost for fixture work generally scales with complexity, not just the fixture price itself — swapping a like-for-like faucet is more straightforward than converting a tub to a walk-in shower, which involves plumbing relocation rather than a simple swap. We'll flag anything that changes the scope of a job before starting, not after.

If you're renovating rather than replacing a single fixture, timing matters too. Fixtures are typically the last thing installed in a renovation, after tile, flooring, and cabinetry are in — but rough-in plumbing has to happen much earlier, before walls close. Getting the sequence right the first time avoids the more expensive problem of opening a finished wall to fix a plumbing location that was measured wrong.

Bathroom & Kitchen Plumbing FAQ

Common Questions
Answered.

Can you install a faucet I already purchased?
Yes. We install customer-supplied fixtures regularly. Just confirm compatibility first — call us before buying and we'll advise, since return policies on plumbing fixtures are often stricter than other home goods once a box has been opened.
My toilet keeps running — is that a big deal?
Yes. A running toilet wastes roughly 200 gallons per day, which significantly impacts your NYC water bill. It's usually a simple, inexpensive fix: flapper or fill valve replacement, not a full toilet replacement.
Do you handle full bathroom renovation plumbing?
We handle all rough-in and finish plumbing for bathroom renovations, coordinated with your project timeline. We work alongside your general contractor or can refer you to trusted NYC GCs.
Can you hook up a new dishwasher?
Absolutely. Dishwasher hookup including water supply, drain connection, and testing — typically under an hour, including a full function test before we leave.
Can you replace a tub or shower valve?
Yes. We replace worn or leaking tub and shower valves and can match new trim to your existing fixtures where possible.
Do you install garbage disposals, or just repair them?
Both. We install new garbage disposals and repair existing units that are jammed, leaking, or no longer working, including cases where the unit itself is fine but the connection has failed.
What's the difference between this service and drain cleaning?
Bathroom & kitchen plumbing covers the fixtures themselves — faucets, toilets, disposals, dishwashers. A clogged drain, even in a kitchen or bathroom, is handled through our drain cleaning service instead.
What's the warranty on installed fixtures?
Labor on fixture installations carries a 1-year warranty. Manufacturer warranties on the fixtures themselves vary by product and are separate from our labor warranty.
My kitchen sink pipe is leaking under the cabinet — is that you or pipe repair?
If it's the fixture connection itself (supply line, trap, drain fitting), that's us. If the leak is coming from the pipe behind the wall or floor, that's pipe repair. We can assess which it is on the visit.
Do you install eco-friendly or water-saving fixtures?
Yes, if that's what you're looking for. Low-flow toilets and faucets are common requests, especially in renovations where reducing water usage is a goal. Let us know your preference when scheduling and we can discuss options. Low-flow doesn't mean lower performance — modern fixtures are designed to maintain normal water pressure while using less overall.
Do you do sink installation for kitchens and bathrooms?
Yes. Sink installation is one of our most common calls — kitchen and bathroom sinks, undermount and drop-in styles, including connecting a customer-supplied sink to existing plumbing.
